Shift
Shift is a family of seating made of ash, made up of a chair and a lounge chair with or without a padded footstool.
The design plays with elegantly deconstructing the relationship between the frame, seat and back, giving each element a defined identity. The broad seat, slid forward, seems to be cantilevered on the framework. The parts of the frame fit into each other in an unusual way, giving the idea of a composition of natural branches
.Shift is available in a chair, a lounge chair and a practical “Ottoman” footstool, all available in Alf DaFrè’s vast array of covers.

The inspiration
Reconfigured architecture
With Shift we wanted to explore a subtle subversion of the rule: the architecture of a classic chair is reconfigured through slightly shifting and rotating the linear elements of the frame, to find a new, more dynamic equilibrium that’s sophisticated and contemporary.
